biography
Marcin Malaszczak, originally from Poland, immigrated to West Berlin with his parents during his childhood. He pursued Film Directing at the German Film and Television Academy (dffb) in Berlin and later co-founded the film production company Mengamuk Films in 2012.
His directorial debut, "Sieniawka," premiered at the 63rd Berlinale (Forum) in 2013, garnering multiple awards such as the Best First Film Prize at FID Marseille and the ARTE Documentary Film Prize at the Duisburger Filmwoche. In 2014 he showcased his short film "Orbitalna" at the 64th Berlinale (Forum Expanded). His second feature film, "The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over The Hills," had its World Premiere at the 65th Berlinale (Forum).
Marcin also served as a co-producer for "In the Last Days of the City," which received critical acclaim upon its premiere at the 66th Berlinale (Forum) in 2016, subsequently winning numerous international awards.
In 2015, he co-founded Wolf, a cinema situated in Neukölln, Berlin, where he oversaw its conceptualization and construction from a filmmaker's perspective.
In 2018, he assumed the role of general manager at Planemo, a post-production studio he established in the same year.
Marcin is currently developing a new feature film project.
